A CYCLE THROUGH THE LIVING LEGACY OF HANG LI PO
Feel the rhythm of the past beneath your wheels as you journey to the very foundation of ancient Malacca. Here, the undeniable influence of the legendary Admiral Zheng He lingers in the air—immortalised in the statue that stands watch over the city’s historical square. It was his arrival, during the great maritime expansion of the Song Dynasty, that would send ripples through time, leading Sultan Mansur Shah to sail for China with tributes befitting an emperor.
There, the sultan sought the hand of Princess Hang Li Po, who arrived on our shores with 500 young men and a few hundred handmaidens—her entourage becoming the thread that wove new stories into the local fabric. Your journey by cycle leads you to Bukit Cina, where her followers built the oldest recorded well in all of Malaysia in 1459. Once a vital source of water, it now stands as a wishing well—where visitors pause, make a silent wish, and connect with a love story that shaped a nation.
